Renaissance® Scan and Plan
The Renaissance system’s Scan & Plan feature allows the same ease and accuracy of a typical Renaissance spine procedure with the option to eliminate a pre-operative CT scan, pre-operative planning, and intra-operative registration.
The Scan & Plan feature is ideal for:
- One or two-level spinal fusions
- Tumor/biopsy resection
- Trauma cases
Steps of a Renaissance Intra-Operative Scan & Plan Procedure
Step 1 : Mount
Dependent on the clinical indication and surgeon preference, one of four platform options is chosen and mounted to the patient’s spine. The marker is then attached to the platform to prepare for the 3D scan.
Step 2: Scan
An intra-operative 3D scan of the patient’s spine is taken according to the protocol set forth by Mazor Robotics. The image is uploaded to the Renaissance system’s software directly via cable or exported to a storage device.
Step 3: Plan
The surgeon plans the ideal procedure for the patient using the Renaissance system’s 3D planning software. Renaissance’s interface allows the surgeon to review and modify this plan in axial, lateral, and AP views until fully satisfied with the location and purchase of the implants. The surgical blueprint can be reviewed in a virtual video mode, displaying the anatomy slice-by-slice in all three surgical planes.
Step 4: Operate
Once the surgeon’s plan is complete, the Guidance Unit is mounted onto the platform and sent to the pre-planned trajectory allowing the surgeon to instrument with 1.5mm accuracy.
This process continues until all trajectories have been executed and implants are safely placed in the planned locations.
